Please join Barbara Saffir, nature photographer, author of “Walking Washington, DC,” and Virginia Master Naturalist for her slide talk on “Winter Nature Photography Hotspots in the Mid-Atlantic” at the Arundel Camera Club on Feb. 6 at 7 pm in Room 166 of the Severna Park High School. Saffir says “Winter is NOT the time for nature photographers to hibernate!” She’ll help you discover some of the mid-Atlantic’s winter nature photography hotspots and spectacles. She’ll show you some of the best places to photograph close-up eagles’ nests, flying squirrels with big eyes that can steal your hearts, winter-blooming flowers that smell sweeter than gardenias, colorful ducks that winter in the DMV, gobs of geese, and more.  She’ll also address some of the challenges and many benefits of photographing outdoors in the winter.

Saffir is a former reporter, political researcher, and architectural critic who worked for the Washington Post, the Orlando Sentinel and other publications.  She now leads Sierra Club hikes, conducts book talks, and runs photo excursions through the “Nature Photography DC/MD/VA Meetup” she founded.  Saffir adores sharing her passions of trail running and hiking along with her love of nature — particularly photographing her beloved birds.

Her 92-page nature photo book, blank photo greeting cards, and signed copies of “Walking Washington, DC” will be on sale after her talk.
