Join the club on a field trip to Skyline Drive Shenandoah National Park. In early October, be on the lookout for fall colors which develop above 3,500 feet as well as white-tailed deer, bears, chipmunks, skunks, and other wildlife.
Directions
Start at Royal Entrance Station – Most northern entrance (Mile 0.6), accessible via U.S. 340 (5 minutes from the town of Front Royal). Travel west on I-66 to Front Royal, Virginia. Exit to Route 340 South, and follow signs for Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. Two-hour drive from Severna Park Baptist Church.
Drive down Skyline Drive enjoying the scenic overlooks for approximately 1.5 hrs 50 miles.
Meet at Big Meadows Harry F. Byrd Sr. Visitors Center 12 Noon.
The drive home from Big Meadows is approximately 3 hrs 142 miles.
Entrance Fees

Free if you have an America the Beautiful or Senior Pass
If you enter the park in a motorized vehicle, your entrance pass covers both you and your passengers. Your passengers do not need a separate pass.
Lunch
Bring a bag lunch.
You can also get lunch at the Big Meadows Wayside. There Blackberry Cobbler a la Mode is a real treat.
