Please join the club on our February field trip to photograph the Washington D.C. monuments at night on Saturday 8 February 2025.  Our current plans are to meet at 5PM at the Jefferson Memorial, near the tidal basin. Open 24 hours.

Sunset will be around 5:38PM. Bring a tripod and cable release.

Close to the Jefferson memorial: George mason Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial. WWII Memorial Reflecting Pool, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial.

Directions & Parking

If you want to park near the Jefferson Memorial at night: 

  • DC Parking Lot A – 971 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC 20024). 
  • National Mall and Memorial Parks – Lot C – 971 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC 20024

The cost of metered parking is $2.30 per hour for a maximum of 3 hours (not renewable at that same location), and is in effect from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily (including weekends and holidays, except December 25). Pay stations accept credit cards and debit cards (no cash/coin); payment can also be made via the Parkmobile app or website. The District of Columbia’s Department of Public Works parking enforcement officers will enforce the meters.

There is accessible parking at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt and World War II Memorials and near the Washington Monument and the Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, Korean War Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials; at the Tidal Basin. Otherwise, parking is extremely scarce in Washington, D.C. Please note that some of these areas will be in the metered areas and will require that those using those space pay to park. 

This may be a good field trip to carpool.
