David Luria is a professional architectural photographer and instructor in Washington DC.
Mr. Luria is best known in the DC area as founder and director of the popular Washington Photo Safari, a program that takes people around key sites of the nation’s capital and teaches them how – and where – to take great pictures Top-rated in Google., it also has a 99% satisfaction rating from its clients and Trip Advisor ranks it among the top 4 out of 83 outdoor activities in DC, giving it annual Certificates of Excellence and 2 Hall of Fame Awards due to hundreds of 5-star reviews.
Over 39,000 clients have been trained in the techniques of travel photography since Mr. Luria began the program in 1999. Working with a team of eleven other professional photographers, his Washington Photo Safaris have provided instruction for an average of 5 clients every day, 365 days a year, in several areas of photography, such as nighttime, street, candid portraiture, nature, pet, travel, and architectural photography in the DC area and in many domestic and overseas locations. He has also helped photographers in 20 other cities set up similar safari programs.
Mr. Luria has served as an event photographer for the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and as an official photographer for the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the Gray Line. His images of the nation’s capital have appeared on the covers of 31 magazines, and in over 100 publications, including TIME, Prevention, Washingtonian, and Italian Cooking and Dining, and on postcards and guidebooks sold throughout the area. He has photographed over 300 hotels and restaurants for various publications and 2,500 apartment complexes in the DC area for the Washington Post’s Apartment Showcase Magazine. A contributing photographer to WHERE-Washington Magazine, NOW, the Entertainment Book, Washington Flyer, and Washington Spaces Magazines, Mr. Luria is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, the Association of Independent Architectural Photographers, the Society of Photographic Educators, Destination DC, and Cultural Tourism DC, and he frequently serves as a speaker to many local camera clubs, including that of the National Press Club. He is also the author of the 2020 Ebook entitled “Washington Photo Safari’s Complete Guide to Amateur Photography.”
