Biography
Rick Hulbert’s internationally awarded photography is informed from his 4-decade background as a Professional Architect and Urban Designer. He is an Elected Member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, and a “Fellow” of The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
Rick has served as an instructor of photography at Simon Fraser University and has lectured and taught at Langara College and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He has also led multi-day photo-workshops throughout Europe and North America.
His teachings reflect his knowledge of the History of the 2-Dimensional Arts of Drawing and Painting along with the Sciences of Human Vision.
He was one of only 2 photographers from North America invited to attend and display his Fine Art images at the World Art Games held in Bratislava, Slovakia where he also addressed the global group of artists that participated.
Over the past few years, Rick Hulbert has contributed presentations to 85 diverse photography groups throughout North America . . . many of them on multiple occasions.

Re-Imagining the Natural and Constructed Environment
The History of Rick Hulbert’s Personal Photography portrays a passion for Symmetry. His visual presentation will explore the reasons and rationale for why the element of symmetry is appreciated throughout the arts and sciences. This presentation explores how photography can either document or creatively re-imagine various forms of symmetry in a wide variety of photographic genres.
Rick will explore how creativity can capitalize on people’s enjoyment of photographic symmetry. You will experience, via examples, how “Curiosity” and “Play,” along with a dose of “Inspiration” can result in some inventive uses of symmetry in photographic art.
Rick’s presentation is designed as a learning experience to be enjoyed by all photographers, regardless of one’s level of experience and expertise.
