Lester Picker (www.lesterpickerphoto.com) has more than 650 writing and photo credits in National Geographic Society publications, Forbes, Time, Inc. Publications, Fortune, National Parks Magazine, and dozens of newspapers, magazines and other publications. He is a former reporter, photojournalist and editor. For three years Les was a columnist for Oceans Magazine and for four years was Editor-In-Chief for a national environmental magazine.
For four years Les was a weekly spot-syndicated columnist for The Baltimore Sun and a freelance feature travel writer/photographer. Les was a regular commentator on National Public Radio’s Marketplace, carried on 260 stations nationwide. He leads photography workshops and tours throughout the world.
Les’ images decorate many homes, offices and institutions throughout North America. He was recently selected as the exclusive artist for a major teaching hospital’s medical wing, where more than 60 of his large format images are permanently displayed.
Les won the prestigious Canada Northern Lights Award for Best Travel Photography. He is a Moab Master Photographer, an X-Rite Coloratti and an Awagami Ambassador.
Les has an earned doctorate in ecology from the University of Maine.
