Top photographs earn ribbons and points toward club awards and recognition. \nThe theme is Reflection photography – Reeflection Photography\, also referred to as mirror photography\, is when you use reflective surfaces to create an artistic echo of a scene. This type of photography can add an interesting spin to locations that are hotspots for photographers such as oceans\, lakes\, puddles\, and even rain drops. They?re all subjects that are commonly used to create brilliant reflection photographs. Of course\, less traditional resources such as metal\, tiles\, mirrors and anything with a shiny surface can also be easily incorporated into this type of photography. The reflections should be captured in camera and not created through Photoshop or similar editors. Click here for examples of Reflections Photography. \nThe contest is open to both novice and unlimited paid club members. Club members may enter up to three digital images. Images need to be 2048 pixels maximum on the longest side. They should be jpg formatted. The deadline for submissions is noon on Tuesday before the contest. SUMMARY:Photo Talk Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us at 7PM on Thursday February 4 at the Severna Park Baptist Church for a Photo Talk Night. \nThe objective of Photo Talk Night is to discuss club members photographs that they are working on for which they are seeking a bit of feedback\, including critical comments and suggestions for ways to tackle the image. No brutal takedowns are acceptable. It is an honest and friendly conversation with an opportunity to be creative and encouraging to our colleagues. This is not supposed to be a high and mighty “Critique\,” it’s a conversation. The goal is for everyone to leave at the end of the night feeling they learned something. \nThere will be a Talk Leader who cues up the photographs and asks the respective photographers to tell the story of the photo—where\, when\, how it was taken. The Talk Leader will also ask the photographer to talk about what they wanted to accomplish with the photo and what features of the photo they have emphasized or worked to accomplish their goal. What did they want the viewer to see and maybe feel when viewing the photo? \nDiscussion will involve club members asking questions about the photo—What about the light? What did you need to change in the photo to accomplish your goal or your vision for the photo? The discussion can include observations on why the photo works or not and what gets in the way of the photo’s impact or message or what makes it work or what can make it work better? The conversation can be a lengthy one\, or it can be a few comments. \nWhen the Talk Leader sees the conversation is done\, they will cue up the next photo. It is not the Talk Leader’s job to make all the comments or provide critique—only to encourage and facilitate discussion. The Talk Leader should not exercise expert advice. We are all colleagues.

Images focused solely on buildings or architecture without a sense of street life or human context are better suited for architectural or cityscape photography rather than street photography. SUMMARY:Contest - Digital - Movement
DESCRIPTION:Thursday evening at 7:00PM at the Severna Park Baptist Church is our monthly digital contest. Entries will be reviewed and critiqued by a judge. Top photographs earn ribbons and points toward club awards and recognition. \nThe theme is Movement – A photograph that conveys a strong sense of motion\, energy\, or action. The subject may be a person\, animal\, vehicle\, object\, or natural element such as water\, smoke\, or weather. Movement may be captured by freezing action sharply\, showing motion blur\, panning with the subject\, or using long exposure techniques. The image should clearly communicate the feeling or effect of movement as a primary element of the composition. Click here for examples of Movement. \nThe contest is open to both novice and unlimited paid club members. Club members may enter up to three digital images. Images need to be 2048 pixels maximum on the longest side. They should be jpg formatted. The deadline for submissions is noon on Tuesday before the contest. DESCRIPTION:The club events digital contest is Thursday evening May 14th at 7:00PM at the Severna Park Baptist Church. Entries will be reviewed and critiqued by a judge. Two ?Best in show? awards will be awarded. One for Novice and one for Unlimited. Each award wins free club membership for the next club year. \nThere will be a Novice and an Unlimited category. You may submit one color and one monochrome digital photographs from each club event you attended during the club year. This will only be digital. No prints. All submitted images shall be judged regardless of the number of submissions. \nClub events include any field trip\, meeting\, gathering\, tabletop night\, portrait night\, photowalk\, fundraisers\, meet & shoots\, the summer picnic\, the Christmas party\, campfires\, exhibits\, and last year?s club banquet. \nGo back through your files from the 2025-2026 club year and pull out your favorite photos from all the club events. \nRemember\, you can submit all photos that comply with the rules above\, including those you submitted and/or won with in monthly contests. \nImages need to be 2048 pixels maximum on the longest side. SUMMARY:Business Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On May 20 we will host our business meeting to elect officers\, discuss changes to our contest rules\, discuss dues\, and select themes for next year’s contests. \nElections – For the election\, we could really use your help. This is an all-volunteer run club. We have the following positions: president\, programs\, contests\, secretary/treasurer\, newsletter editor\, field trips\, refreshments\, members at large\, and webmaster. \nIt’s best for program and contests if we have co-chairs. So please consider serving in one of these positions. \nIf you would like to serve in one of these positions\, email the executive committee acc-officers@googlegroups.com. \nContest Themes – We have established a contest themes committee to brainstorm and discuss themes as well as changes to the themed contests. These will be presented at the business meeting for discussion and vote. \nContest Rules – Per the new by-laws\, the contest rules must be reviewed every two years. This is your chance to suggest and discuss changes. \nBudget and Dues – Our club treasury will give a report on the club’s financials\, assets\, liabilities\, and we will discuss changes to the dues if necessary.

DESCRIPTION:Club Members (free and paid) and families are invited to the Arundel Camera Club End of Year Awards Banquet on Thursday May 27th starting at 7pm at Romano’s Bar & Grill in Glen Burnie Maryland. \nThis is when we present our best of the best images for the year and give awards to the best monochrome print\, color print\, and digital photograph for the year as well as present the results of the end of year competition. This is also the last chance to get together and socialize before our summer break. \nWe need a minimum of 25 attendees.
